Parker Benson and Erin Huffman have been selected as the September Students of the Month.
Parker Dale Benson is the son of Danny and Tina Benson. He is the grandson of Patsy Benson.
While at Lincoln High School, Parker has maintained a 4.0 GPA, has consistently been on the Perfect Honor Roll, has been the recipient of several Top Scholar awards, and is a PROMISE Scholar.
Parker is a three-year member of the varsity soccer team, being named a captain for the 2016 season. He has also been a member of the basketball team and was a kicker for the football team. Parker is also president of the Chess Club where he helped lead his team to the 2016 State Championship, as well as earned a title of an individual state champion.
Parker’s hobbies include bow hunting, rifle hunting, fishing, and weightlifting.
After graduation, Parker plans to attend West Virginia University to gain a dual major in mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Upon attainment of that degree, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Erin Michelle Huffman is the daughter of William and Cassandra Ayers. She is the granddaughter of Bill Ayers and step-granddaughter of Susie Ayers.
Over the course of her high school career, Erin has maintained over a 4.0 GPA, having taken five AP courses. She has been a member of the cross country and track teams and a member to both the book and art clubs. Erin was also a candidate in the Lincoln High School debate held before the 2016 election. She was inducted as a member of the National Honor Society her junior year.
Throughout high school, she has collected many accolades. She is a PROMISE Scholarship recipient and has been selected for several Top Scholar awards. This year she was also named and Elk’s Student of the Month. Erin has been especially decorated for her artwork. Her freshman year, she received second place in a collage self-portrait contest. In her sophomore year, she placed second in the county art show and was the winner of the Clarksburg Woman’s Club Art Show. Her junior year, she won first place in West Virginia’s Congressional Art Show and her work was displayed in Washington, D.C.
Erin’s hobbies include reading, wood-burning, listening to music, and running when her schedule allows.
After high school, Erin plans to attend West Virginia University and major in psychology.
