December Students of the Month


Marlee Smith and Noah Hoskinson were named the December students of the month.

Marlee Smith is the daughter of John and Jeanne Smith of Hepzibah, and the granddaughter of Shirley Smith of North View.

Academically, Marlee has definitely excelled. Over the course of her high school career, Marlee has maintained over a 4.0 GPA and has been on the Perfect Honor Roll every semester. She has taken numerous AP courses, as well as two math classes through West Virginia University and is currently enrolled at Fairmont State University where she takes classes at the Caperton Center. Marlee was inducted in the Lincoln High School National Honor Society her junior year and was then elected as the treasurer. Marlee has numerous academic awards: Challenge Program Academic Excellence Award, Challenge Program STEM Award, National Microsoft Office Competition 2nd place Excel Score, WVSSAC Athletic Team Academic Achievement Award (two years), as well as being named a Top Scholar in United States History, Math III Stem, College Algebra, Info 1100, and Physics.

Athletically, Marlee is a four-year member of the girls’ varsity basketball team and a member of the softball team.

She has been very active while at Lincoln serving on the Key Club Executive Committee, chairing the Lincoln High School’s Tutoring Program, participating in the Humane Society Club, playing in the powder puff football team, and serving prom decoration and invitation committees. She has also participated in Trick or Treat for UNICEF, Big Elm Fall Fest, The Lord’s Pantry Food Drive, Feed a Family, and assists with the Challenger Basketball League.

Marlee’s future plans are to attend college and pursue a degree in astrophysics and mechanical engineering.

Noah Jordan Hoskinson is the son of Carl & Missy Hoskinson. He is the grandson of Bill & Becky Powell of Anmoore and the late Carlton Hoskinson.

Noah has maintained above a 4.0 GPA while at Lincoln, has been selected for several Top Scholar awards and has taken three AP classes. By the end of his senior year, he will have completed fifteen college credit hours and is a Promise Scholarship recipient.

He was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior and was selected to attend the West Virginia Mountaineer Boys State. He is a four-year member of the baseball team and a three-year member of the golf team. He was also a member of the Junior Prom Court and is a member of the Key Club.

Hoskinson plans to attend West Virginia University. He has been accepted into the Honors College Program and will major in Exercise Physiology to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
