Intern for Senator McKinley


Lincoln High School's own sophomore, Garrett Stire had the opportunity of a lifetime interning for Senator David McKinley in Washington D.C. from May 30 until July 2.

McKinley is a republican representative for the state of West Virginia.

Stire has had a political interest for a while now and was excited to get to learn how the government works. During his time there, he stayed at an intern house on Main Street with two other roommates. He also go to meet many different congressmen from Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia, Vermont, Montana, and the two others from West Virginia. While working with McKinley's calendar, he played a huge part of the Healthcare Bill. As well as answering very important phone calls.

"Although my time there was stressful," Garrett said, "I had a great time and enjoyed viewing the awesome landmarks!"
