Lincoln High School is ready to Rock 'N Roll into the 40th Season with many exciting things planned for the week.
The hallways of the school will be filled with excitement and crazy-dressed students and teachers as everyone participates in the themed Spirit Week days.
Monday has been set as "Band Merchandise Monday." On this day, students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite Rock 'N Roll band t-shirt. Some ideas are Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Kiss. Not a fan of rock 'n roll music? Wear any band shirt you may have and still earn points for your class!
"Cover Band Tuesday" is better known as "twin day" to most students. As the themed-day explains, students are to find a friend or classmate and dress just like each other.
On Wednesday, it won't be uncommon to hear "I woke up like this" as it is "'Woke Up Like This' Wednesday." In more common terms, it is pajama day! Wear your favorite pajamas and slippers to school on this day!
Thursday is "Throwback Thursday." Pick a style from your favorite decade and rock the clothes that would have been seen during that time period.
On Friday, hopefully all students and staff members will be "Screaming School Spirit" in pre-purchased Homecoming t-shirts or any Lincoln apparel or colors!
All students and staff members are encourage to participate as the amount of people participating in each class reflects the total points each class will receive each day. The school dress code still applies and will still be enforced throughout Spirit Week.
Beginning on Monday, homeroom doors and class walls will all be ready for viewing and judging. An annual tradition, each class is assigned a wall in the commons area, and they had to design the wall to relate to the Homecoming theme and the football game. In addition, each homeroom is responsible for decorating their door in a way that also relates to the theme and the game. Outside judges are brought in to judge the walls and the doors, and points are added accordingly to class totals.
The Homecoming parade will be held on Wednesday and will begin at 6 pm. Lincoln's clubs, sports teams, class floats, the elected Homecoming Court, and other community floats will be showcased in the parade. The Powder Puff game will be played once the parade is over. Girls from all classes will play a clean game of football, held at Stydahar Field, against each other, while being coached by the boys in their classes. Following the game, the Turf Take Over will begin and will conclude Wednesday's events.
Make sure to come to Stydahar Field by 7 pm on Friday evening to catch the game against the East Fairmont Bees. At halftime, the elected Homecoming Court will be presented and one lucky senior girl will be crowned the 2017 Homecoming Queen.
Those elected to serve on the 2017 Homecoming Court are: Freshmen Avery Riley, Emily Duffy, Corey Prunty, and Zach Snyder, Sophomores Erika Ferris, Brynne Williams, Baron Swiger, and JR Defazio, Juniors Brook Price, Julia Stout, Aidan Napier, and Andru Helmick, and Seniors Olivia Gianettino, Hailey Elder, Lauren Brooks, Lilly Rhodes, Jaye Carvelli, Gracey Lamm, Alec Gemondo, Cory Fazalare, David Akers, Izzik Haymond, Gibby Barnard, and Kobie Carpenter. Harrison Arco was already chosen the 2017 Grand Marshal.
The Homecoming Dance will be held at the school on Saturday night from 8-11 pm. Coronation will be held at 8:30 pm.
Participation in Spirit Week, enthusiasm at the pep rally, homeroom doors, class floats, and class walls will all be considered when determining which class will earn the spirit stick!
