Lincoln vs Elkins

Friday night's big 10 match-up between Lincoln and Elkins had two high powered offenses and contrasting playing. Elkins (3-5) rallied from two scores down and almost pull off an improbable comeback. Lincoln (6-2) used Kobie carpenters arm to answer every score and eventually pull out a late 45-44 win. After a 44-yard score from Carpenter to Colton Hovermale, and ran in a two point conversion with a little over 30 seconds remaining, Lincoln coach Rob Hawkins, in a breath of relief, admitted he wasn't surprised to see the two teams combine for 89 points and 1,039 yards on offense, Elkins ran the ball for 421 yards on 41 carries and Lincoln threw for 476 yards and three scores, but early in the third quarter you wouldn't have thought you would've seen a 45-44 victory results coming for the cougars. cougars had finally got a 21-10 lead to start the third quarter. With the combination of Hovermale runs and carpenter passes, the cougars moved quick, but not quick enough for Elkins. Elkins got its last defensive stop of the night on the next drive and got the ball back on its own with 2:19 left to play turns out 1:28 is too much time to give carpenter and the senior quarterback found hovermale, that juked the only defender who had a shot at stopping the play, and rumbled 55 yards for the score. Cougars tool the two point conversion for the 45-45 wins over Elkins!
