Riley, Fazalare Selected as August Students of the Month


Brenna Paige Riley is the daughter of Clay and Whitney Riley, and the granddaughter of Bob and Ann Riley, Phyllis Ryan and Lynton Ryan.

While at Lincoln, Brenna has obtained perfect honor roll each six weeks and has over a 4.0 GPA. She is also in the top 10 of her class, as well, as having already qualified as a PROMISE Scholar. Brenna is a four-year member of the soccer team, serving as team captain. Last season, she was named BB&T Athlete of the Week, and earned Big 10 Honorable Mention, 2nd Team All County, and All State Honorable Mention. Brenna is also a member of the girls’ basketball team; and during her junior year, helped the team win the WVSSAC Academic Achievement Team Award. She also participates on the track team; and last season, Brenna set the school record for the one mile run.

Throughout high school, Brenna has remained very active. She is a member of the Student Council Executive Committee, Key Club, is the National Honor Society Vice President, and the Treasurer of the Senior Class. She has participated in many service projects during her four years of high school, such as Feed a Family, Angel Luv, Prom Fashion Show, and Trunk or Treat. During her junior year, she was selected to be on the Prom Court and was crowned Prom Queen. Brenna also enjoys spending time with Young Life and reading.

Brenna is an active member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston. After high school, Brenna plans on attending college to major in mechanical engineering.

Cory Matthew Fazalare is the son of Gary and Amie Fazalare of Shinnston. He is the grandson of Fred and Sandra Fazalare of Hepzibah.

Cory is the Student Body Vice President, Key Club President, and a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, FBLA, and the Ping Pong Club. Cory has been very active in many service projects throughout his four years, including Angel Luv, Trunk or Treat, Powder Puff Football, and Feed a Family. He has also been elected by his peers to serve on the Homecoming Court, Sweetheart Court, Sadie Hawkins Court, and the Prom Court.

Cory was recently chosen as the AARP Metro News State Scholar Athlete of the Week for his performance in the classroom and on the field. He is ranked number one in his class and holds over a 4.0 GPA. Cory has already qualified as a PROMISE Scholar.

Cory is a four-year member and Captain of the boys’ varsity basketball team and was a key player in the team advancing to the state semi-finals last season. He was named 1st Team All-County and All State Honorable Mention for his outstanding basketball season. Cory is also a member of the Lincoln football team and was named a game captain this year, as well as winning the WBOY “Connexion of the Week.” He is also a vital member of the varsity tennis team; and during the last two years, he has won the Big 10 Tennis Championship, was named First Team Big 10, and during his junior year, he was a State Runner Up in doubles.

Cory is a member of the Life Builders Fellowship Church in Bridgeport, as well as an active member of the Young Life. After graduation, Cory plans on attending college to major in accounting and finance.
