Meet our Math Department

Here at Lincoln High School, we have a total of five math teachers.

The first teacher we have is Mrs. Haleigh Wolfe. She teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Mrs. Wolfe has been teaching for nine years now, and all nine of those have been here at Lincoln. Mrs. Wolfe became a teacher because of the influences she had from teachers as she was going through school. Growing up, she had to really great teachers that she saw as role models and that is why she wanted to become a teacher herself. Mrs. Wolfe's favorite class to teach is Algebra 2. A favorite memory throughout the years for Mrs. Wolfe is when she once helped a student of hers take various online AP math courses to achieve a very high goal.

Next we have Mr. Danny Sharp. He teaches Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and also College Prep Math. He has been here at Lincoln for five years but has been a teacher for 13 years total. Mr. Sharp told the newspaper staff that he became a teacher because he likes math and likes helping others. For Mr. Sharp, his favorite memory was easy - it was when he coached the Lincoln Chess Team to win the State Championship in 2016.

Mr. Vinnie DeMarco was interviewed third. Mr. DeMarco has been a teacher now for four years, and all of those years have been here at Lincoln. Here, he teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, College Prep Math, and AP Calculus. Mr. DeMarco gives all credit to his dad for getting him into the teaching profession. He said he remembers that his dad would bring him with him during Faculty Senate days and "take your kid to work day." It was during those days that he found him love for working in a school. For him, he thinks his favorite class to teach is AP Calculus. Although he couldn't choose just one favorite memory, Mr.DeMarco loves when students tell him how much he has helped them and how much of an impact he has made.

Next is Miss Karli Jaco. She has been teaching for nine and a half years. Eight and a half of those have been at Lincoln. Miss Jaco's favorite class to teach is Dual Credit College Algebra and Trig, but she also teaches Geometry, Math IV Trig, Dual Credit College Pre-Calc, Algebra, and Trigonometry. Her favorite memory comes from her third year of teaching when her College Algebra and Trig class became very close to her. When they graduated, they made her a photo album with all the memories from that year in it. Most of those students were students of hers all four years of high school. Some even invited Miss Jaco to their college graduation parties, which she did attend.

Lastly, we have Mrs. Tracy Duncan who teaches Algebra Support, Algebra I, Algebra 2, and Geometry. She has been teaching for 31 years, but she is actually new to Lincoln as this is her first year with us. For Mrs. Duncan, her favorite class to teach is Algebra. A love for learning and a love for kids is what Mrs. Duncan says brought her to this profession. As for her best memory, she says she has too many to pick one. One example of those memories would be when she received flowers from a student who was so excited to pass her exam, which then allowed the student to graduate. She also fondly remembers when a row of silly boys got up and started dancing.
