McKeen Named New School Principal!

As everyone knows, Lincoln High School recently hired a new principal. It just so happens to be a familiar face of Russell McKeen who was one of the assistant principals here at the school before he moved up to his new position.

Anyone who was interested in the job had to get an interview like all other jobs. So a committee of teachers interviewed several candidates in hopes to find the perfect person to replace Mr. Lopez.

Mr. McKeen told the newspaper staff that he wanted the job because it was a great opportunity for him to continue to work at Lincoln with the students, staff, and community. He wanted to continue the good things that are happening here.

Mr. McKeen's favorite part about the job is that he gets the chance to sit down and work with everyone. He said, "In order to look upon what we are doing. we are always ways to make things better for the students."

The thing Mr. McKeen will miss most about his job as vice principal is the time he had that a principal might not always have. He will try and make sure he will still get to spend plenty of time with the students and in classrooms. It is very important to him that he knows each student.

The biggest thing he wants to accomplish as principal is to increase knowing the parents. Mr. McKeen said we have great community support, and having more parents directly involved in their children's and their child's education would greatly benefit the students. The one thing he would change about the school is to do AA differently. He would like AA to be a time for students to get extra help they need, and a chance for students to re-do missed or failed assignments.

Mr. McKeen wants to be known as someone who is a hard worker, fair to everyone, and a person who gives students opportunities.
