Yesterday, the Cougars opened up their regular season with an away game against Buckhannon-Upshur. This was a hard match for the Lady Cougars due to the Lady Bucs being AAA, the competition was tough. The JV started off the night with a lot of energy, but couldn’t keep up with the Lady Bucs and quickly fell 2-0. Shortly after, the Varsity began their match. They stayed close the whole set, volleying back and forth on the court and the scoreboard. The Cougars fought hard, but lost the first set. Down one set, the Lady Cougars fell in the second set and struggled to keep up, but quickly rallied back in the third with a much closer game, but lost 25-20 and ended the night 3-0. This wasn’t the outcome the girls were looking for, but they fought hard and are determined to work harder for next weeks match ups against Braxton County and Elkins High Schools.
