Lincoln dominated time of possession, worked the ball around and generated a myriad of good looks in a 3-0 defeat of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Stydahar Field on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars, who improved to 6-9-1 and posted back-to-back wins for the second time this year, got things going in a hurry, scoring a goal around the one minute mark when senior forward Steven Anton earned a breakaway, charged towards the goal and found the far corner of the net to give Lincoln an early 1-0 lead. That set the tone for a game in which the Cougars held possession and peppered the Irish goal with a number of shots, something Lincoln coach Ryan Gump credited to his team’s positioning on the field.Â
