Lincoln Takes Down Philip Barbour!


On a cold and rainy night when Rob Hawkins needed his offensive line to come up with a big game, the unit delivered its best performance of the season.

The Cougars pounded out 175 yards on the ground in the first half to gain a 27-14 lead on visiting Philip Barbour, and went on to a 34-14 win over the Colts in Big 10 Conference football action Friday night at Stydahar Field.

The victory moved Lincoln to 4-5 on the season, while the Colts fell to 2-7.

Colten Hovermale, who rolled up 143 yards in the first half and ended the night with 169 yards on 26 carries.

The Cougars’ defense, which held PB to just 189 yards of total offense on the night, stopped the Colts on their first possession and took over at their own 29 yard line.
