Yesterday, the girls basketball team got into the Christmas spirit by wearing Christmas attire and pajamas to school before their game. Later, the Lady Cougars traveled to Elkins to sweep the Lady Tigers. JV kept it close, but pulled out a win by a large ,argon by the end, 40-20. The Varsity girls took a long time to get a strong lead, with the Tigers constantly closing in on them, but finally won by 13, 61-48. Katie Martin, a Junior, said that “We shot a lot better last night and didn’t let them come back into the game too close. We are getting better and better each game.” The girls have moved their record to 3-1 and play one of the biggest games of the season against rival team, Bridgeport. “They’re always good and the games are always close. This is a huge game for us and will show us where we’re really at.” Says Allison Rockwell, a Junior and starter. Support for the Cougars will be needed on Friday at Bridgeport at 7:30.
