Mrs. Maria Osbourn is one of our five English teachers.
Mrs. Osbourn told us that she has always wanted to be a teacher. She knew at a very young age that this is what she'd always grow up to do. She grew up loving school and played school at her grandma's house and never gave up on her dream. Mrs. Osbourn credits her teachers throughout all her years of schooling for showing her what teachers did day in and day out, and she also credits her stepdad for helping confirm that teaching was exactly what she wanted to do. She remembers going to school with him, and being in the schools made her realize being a teacher was where she saw herself.
Mrs. Osbourn has been teaching for thirteen years now and all thirteen of those years have been here at Lincoln.
Currently, Mrs. Osbourn teaches English 11, AP English Literature, and is the advisor for the yearbook and newspaper. When asked what her favorite class is to teach, she said she loves the content and material that is covered in English 11, but she also loves working with the yearbook staff every year to create, what she thinks are, the best yearbooks around.
Mrs. Osbourn attended Bridgeport High School and then Fairmont State University.
She is married to her husband, Mitch, aka "the Voice of the Cougars”, and she has three daughters - Avery (8), Addison (5), and Alexa (2).
Outside of school, her kids and their activities take up most of her time.
