Marissa Altovilla, Drake Loss, and Maggy McCarty were three students out of ten in the state that were selected as finalists for the 6th annual West Virginia High School Business Plan Competition. Over the next few months, they will attend a workshop on how to improve their business plan and then present it to a panel of judges at the final competition. Marissa Altovilla, one of the students selected, said that it was a competition that included marketing and personal finance and they had to create a business that would have a positive impact on West Virginia. She created a word document that explained it, and in it she had an excel spreadsheet and her budget was worked out well. The business she created was to travel to homes to take care of the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease. “West Virginia is one of the leading states in the country for elderly with Alzheimer’s disease.” she said. The workshop is February 9th at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. The finals will be on April 12th at the High Tech Consortium in Fairmont, West Virginia
