Getting to Know Mrs. Herrod!

Mrs. Amanda Herrod is part of the Special Education Department at LHS.

Mrs. Herrod began teaching because she enjoyed working with children who have special education and behavioral differences.

She has been teaching for 15 years and at six different schools. She has spent seven of her 15 years at Lincoln.

Her favorite class to teach is science and English; but in school, her favorite class was either psychology or world religions, but she liked them both so she can’t decide.

Mrs. Herrod went to school at Mount de Chantal Academy, and she attended college at West Virginia University.

So far, her favorite memories of teaching are “when I can see growth in students, especially with learning to read. I also love seeing students who have graduated out working or going to college.”

Outside of school, she spends time with her family and watches her kids participate in sports or other activities. She’s been married for 16 years and has a 14-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. They have also rescued two dogs and four cats.
