Getting to Know Student-Athlete, Moritz Thiel!

Many LHS students have had the privilege to play two high school sports with an amazing foreign exchange student this year.

This student's name is Moritz Thiel, and he is from Germany.

Despite the fact that he has never been to the U.S before, he fits right in with the rest of us.

He has played two sports for Lincoln so far and he will be participating in another soon. The two that he has played for us so far are soccer, where he played as one of our strikers. The second was wrestling; and even though he was junior varsity, he still wrestled his heart out. Now that spring sports have started, Moritz will be picking a third sport to participate in, and that is track.

When we asked him how he plans on finishing his final season he answered with, "I finished my season well and enjoyed them all!”

His favorite memory of the sports was the team spirit of both sport teams and getting all "swole."

The number he picked was nine for soccer, because he said that it is traditionally the number that is worn by the world's best offensive players.

When we finally asked him the reasons behind him joining these sports, he informed us that the reason for playing soccer was to get to know people, and he thought since he was pretty good playing it in Germany that he would do well here as well.

Moritz has never wrestled before until now and the reason for it he says was to try it, to keep active and involved in high school sports, and his soccer buddies were doing it as well.

His reason for track was due to his liking of it in Germany, so he wanted to do it here as well.

We all will miss Moritz when he will unfortunately have to leave us to go back to Germany at the end of the school year.
