On Saturday, February 23rd, Macy Buck attended an art show in Parkersburg, WV. Macy’s artwork was presented to the public among many other artists within the show. Here, Macy won first place in both the painting subsection of the high school division and the overall first place in the high school division. “I am absolutely ecstatic!” Macy shared with us, “Art is my passion, and I’m beyond happy that others appreciate what I love to do. I’ve been an artist for most of my life. It was my dream job when I was 8 years old, and it’s stuck with me ever since.” Macy also shared with us about future mediums and styles she wishes to do; “Trying different mediums and art styles is a lot of fun for me, but I’ve yet to try oil paints.” Lincoln High School is very proud of Macy, and we wish nothing but the best on her adventure as an artist. As a senior, she has set an example for many high school students. Whether it’s within academics, sports, or art, Macy never fails to amaze us with her hard work and dedication. There are many young artists who wish to pursue a career within the community. Although some may not know how to do so, or they don’t believe in themselves. Young artists find themselves torn between pursuing a career in art or in something else. Sometimes their families can cause pressure on them as well. Either way, Macy encourages many artists to pursue their dreams. “If art is what you love to do and what makes you happy, then do it. Practice as often as you want, try new mediums, find your preferred style. A world without art is like a song with no rhythm; it’s necessary for things to make sense.” Macy advised.
