Cougars couldn’t have asked for much more in the first game of the 2019 season. Cougars plated 14 runs on 12 hits en route to a 14-4 victory over Grafton in the season opener for both teams. “ We made some errors here and there and will have to correct that. But overall I’m pleased with the performance”. After the cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the bottom of the third, Brayden Arcuri caught two fly balls and threw out Graftons Dillon Williams to quickly end the inning and preserve the early shutout. Arcuri just a freshman, would single moments later in the top of the fourth inning before eventually finding his way to home plate after a wild pitch to allow the cougars to take 6-0 lead. Pat Bart then hit a solo home run to help the Cougars eventually take an 8-0 lead. And they cleaned it up and scored six more runs to make it a 14-4 victory.
